Raypak pool heater manual rp2100

The older board only was a couple of hundred. Thanks for the response. I appreciate the info. I have to disagree with you about the cost being "quite fair". And I'm not blaming the people who install the new boards, it's Raypak - like you pointed out - that should be targeted.

Clearly their business model is based on selling you a new heater rather than repairing an old one. I've asked around the neighborhood and I am starting to get the picture that a lot of these Raypak heaters had control board issues - at least the pre models. One neighbor had 3 boards replaced before getting one that worked properly - fortunately for her it was all under warranty.

I know a fair bit about circuit board manufacturing costs, and it is not costing Raypak anything close to that amount to produce those control boards. I've given it some more thought. I would be insane not to scrap the whole thing.

And out of curiousity, what does a retrofit intail? Unplugging and unscrewing the old board out of the unit and swapping it out for the new board.

I'm assuming because it's backwards compatible with older heater models that the wiring will be similar, if not the same. But then again, what do I know? I don't know In case you didn't realize, that is probably lower than the average house price in my immediate area. Maybe they just sell more heaters here since a lot of people here swim longer in the year than in other regions.

I know our pool prices are generally higher than most I have seen on this board. I was surprised to get the heater for that price. We just missed a promotion during the summer for an even better deal. You cannot buy a modern heater for less than that.

The Raypak board is a sign of doing too much in one thing. The old style board never failed but the LCD screen failed miserably. This required a new board when the board itself was not bad. Add the ignition control part and you have the high cost. Every manufacturer is guilty in any appliance category.

I'd still buy a Raypak over any other heater as aside from the board, it is superior to all others. Buy a Hayward and you are asking for a lifetime of repairs. Buy a Jandy and the first repair will kill you. Thanks for all the input. It looks like it might be time for a new Raypak heater. This required a new board when the board itself was not bad". I think this implies that the LCD is not required to operate the unit.

Recently my heater is only only getting to about 85 Deg F, despite cleaned filters etc. I have never really understood what "Pool" mode meant other than a lower max temp setting. That is simply by counting the "clicks" of the Mode and Temp switches assuming my switches did actually click. Safety Covers. Safety Equipment. Salt Cell Replacements. Salt Chlorinators. Raypak's original "pagoda top" design will keep the heater operating even in extreme wind conditions and downdrafts. The Raypak Digital has a polyester coated, non-corrosive cabinet that is more durable than solventborne and. Every piece of sheet metal that gets powder coated goes through a 7-stage wash system making certain the powder paint has a perfect bond.

Underneath the tough and beautiful finish you will find galvanized metal that offers superior rust prevention and years of durable service. The Raypak Digital incorporates the latest in header design technology. Raypak's state-of-the-art engineering department utilized the latest in 3-D computer aided design to engineer the part for optimal performance. Polymer resin headers prevent rust stains from harming your pools surface giving you years of trouble-free swimming pleasure. All Raypak RP Digital gas heaters come standard with integral copper finned tube.

This means that the fin tubing is made from one piece of extruded copper tube. Since the fins are integral to the tube, maximum heat transfer is attained. Every Raypak Digital has the same robust design tube bundle that we use in our large gas commercial boilers. Raypak Raypak RP Digital heaters can be ordered with cupro-nickel fin tube heat exchangers for added protection against aggressive water chemistry.

Although rare, there are certain applications, like health club spa's, where copper is just not the best choice. Cupro-nickel offers superior tolerance to bad and fluctuating water chemistry, thanks to a harder surface and thicker walled fin tube. Stainless steel tube sheets are used on all Raypak Digital heaters that use the Polymer resin headers. This allows for a completely nonferrous waterway leaving your pool truly rust-free. Standard with every Raypak Digital is a set of 2" slip fit CPVC water connections to make your installation secure and effortless.

Standard on all Raypak RP Digital models is Raypak's Unitherm Governor, which helps reduce condensation from low inlet water temperatures. Both water temperature and water flow rate are controlled to eliminate condensation, sooting, and scale buildup that can shorten heater life.

No need to worry about large pumps or high flow systems with the Raypak RP The Raypak Digital comes with an automatic bypass built into the header. You'll find that the Raypak Digital delivers the industry's lowest pressure drop and highest water flow rate - up to gallons per minute - exceeding the maximum recommended for 2" plumbing systems.

More hot water moves through faster and more efficiently. You bet. Energy-smart Raypak heaters consistently achieve the highest efficiency ratings and the Raypak Digital is no exception. It exceeds all federal and state standards. Every Raypak Digital burner tray is built to last.
