Decoder error windows media center 2005

Decoder error media center. I usually dont play dvd's but recently tried and I get a decoder error. Also the pointer is very choppy in media center,in and out. Plays cds fine,but dont know if I did something a long time ago,because I havent tried the dvd player in a long time. Any help is appreciated. I have tried on cinemaster and media center,but nothing works with dvd"s. All forum topics Previous Topic Next Topic.

Replies 6. Hi, Michael: It would be nice to have the exact error, as well as the usual details about your computer model of your system and DVD drive. Windows XP Media center The error I get says Decoder Error,no number. I have dell cinemaster and it will not play. I can play cd's,and even burn them. Also, it says I have sigmatelhigh definition audio codec.

I hope this is enought info to help. Thank you,Michael. I found na error message on event viewer. It says SSDP discovery service, Media center extender service, The service cannot be started either because it is disabled or because no enabled devices associated with it.

I am sorry if the error message is not exact,but that is the basic message. If need be exact I could copy it. Thank you again. The SSDP service is not the problem. I would uninstall then reinstall Cinemaster. Also check downloads for any program updates. I looked for a copy of cinemaster but, they want Decoder Error — The video decoder has either malfunctioned or is not installed. Wondering the same thing!

Can you denote the tone of sarcasm? Hope so! The guy who set up my computer swears to me he watched a woodstock DVD on it. I think he had too much to smoke! Where can I find the correct mpeg 2 decoder to install to fix this problem? Are all of these program issues related?
